Because of its expertise in optical networks, Mahlet has executed complex designs for extracting an SDH payload from an OTN frame and retransmitting the payload in STM- 64 format. We also have experience extracting an Ethernet payload from an OTN transport. This involved processing the OTU2 to access the payload using a multi-stage pipeline process that included: Frame Alignment Sequence (FAS) detection and frame alignment, OTN descrambling, Forward Error Correction (FEC) decoding, ODU processing and payload processing. The design was implemented on the current generation of FPGA technologies with the idea of portability as part of the design. Mahlet understands all layers of the communications’ network and has been a valued consultant to our customers. For telecom equipment providers, Mahlet has conducted product design analyses and researched market space based technical requirements. For our network operator customers, we have also reviewed existing network designs and offered solutions for enhancing features and functionality. We have also assessed RFP respondents on their technical capabilities and documented the results in an easy to understand evaluation matrix.
